Abstract

Richard Warner of HPS called yesterday and said that a Mr. James Berry of Stockbridge called and said that we were going to impact an old stone wall built by slaves. The project is S.R. 138 widening at Honey Creek. Teresa met Mr. Berry in the field today and said that the wall really was there, but that she did not think it was eligible (she didn't tell Mr. Berry that). Mr. Berry and other locals are, for some reason, real upset about us possibly taking this wall. He mentioned contacting county commissioners, etc.

Teresa said that based on where the R/W stakes are, the wall would most likely fall between our R/W and the construction limits with only one end being impacted. She is getting Frances Anglin to send the pertinent plan sheet.
