Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BHF-198-1 (3), Lumpkin County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The bridge over the Chestatee River on S.R. 9/U.S. 19 will be replaced. The project will begin at the intersection of S.R. 9/U.S. 19 and S. R. 11 /U.S. 129 and will continue west for 900 feet. Existing right-of-way along S.R. 9 is 60 feet. An additional 25 feet of right-of -way is required north of existing right-of-way on S.R. 9. No additional right-of-way is required along S.R. 11/ U.S. 129.
