In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, Project STP- 1221(9), Ware County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The proposed project consists of shoulder paving, 0. 6 m (2 ft) left and right, of S.R. 122 beginning at the Clinch County line (MP 0.00) and ending 0.2 km (0 .1 mi) west of C. R. 39 (MP 8. 90). An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire 14.4 km (8. 9 mi) project corridor.
