Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-2010 (3), Spalding County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. Project STP-2010(3) would construct turn lanes on SR 155/ McDonough Road at CR 514 / Teamon Road in Spalding County. The proposed project would begin on SR 155/McDonough Road approximately 300 meters (1000 feet) south and end approximately 213 meters (700 feet) north of CR 514 / Teamon Road. The existing right-of-way on SR 155/McDonough Road is approximately 30.5 meters (100 feet), while the additional required right -of-way would be approximately 12 meters (40 feet). An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project description was conducted for the entire length of the proposed project corridor.
