Abstract

The proposed project would construct a new rail spur and associated rail yard along a spur line of the Georgia Southwestern Railroad (Figure 1). The proposed rail spur and yard would be approximately 1,800 feet long and 350 feet in width and would be located just south of Brinson Airbase Road, west of the existing Georgia Southwestern Railroad spur line, and to the east of Jabara Avenue. The initial phase of construction would build a 900-foot rail spur and the associated yard; future phases of the project would extend this initial spur and build four additional spur tracks. No additional right-of-way (ROW) would be required, and the proposed project would be constructed on property owned by the Development Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County (Figure 2).
