Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, Project EDS-27(129), Early County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify, and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. Project EDS-27(129), Early County, is the proposed new location construction of a north-south bypass for the City of Blakely. The project begins on US 27/SR 1 at CR 1/County Street and extends north, generally paralleling the east city limit of Blakely; the project ends approximately 3.9 miles to the north near the intersection of US 27/SR 1 and CR 153/Upper Kolomoki Road. The proposed project would require a minimum of 200 feet of right-of-way. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed right-of-way was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
