Abstract

The project begins at the end of the bridge approximate MP 5.86 on SR 520 in Muscogee County and runs south to approximate MP 8 .32, 410 ft south of the intersection of SR 26 in Chattahoochee County on SR 1/520/US 27/280 within the boundary of Fort Benning. The project consists of the installation of double-faced guardrail in the median with emergency openings, upgrading existing guardrail on the outside shoulders, reconstruction of existing Type "A" median crossovers on SR 520 and the realignment of SR 26 to provide a 90-degree intersection.

The existing typical section for SR 520 consists of 4 - 12 ft travel lanes, two in each direction, with a 10 ft paved outside shoulder. The median is 35 ft flush humped grassed.

The proposed typical section for SR 520 will consist of 4 - 12 ft travel lanes, two in each direction, with a l0 ft paved outside shoulder. Double faced guardrail will be installed in the median and the existing guardrail on the outside shoulder will be replaced, both per Ga. Standards.

This section of SR 520 is located within Fort Benning. There is no established right-of-way.

The project termini on SR 520 in Muscogee County is from MP 5.86 to 7.70 and in Chattahoochee County is from MP 0.00 to 8.13. The project length is 10.15 miles.
