The subject project would consist of the milling, leveling, and resurfacing of SR 49 in the city of Macon. The proposed project would begin at the SR 22 intersection (MP 12.73) and would end at the SR 19 intersection (MP 13.05). No earthwork would be involved in the process of milling, leveling, and resurfacing of the existing roadway. No acquisition of additional right-of-way or construction would be required to implement the project.
According to 36 CFR 800.2(0), an "undertaking" consists of "any project, activity, or program that can result in changes in the character or use of historic properties, if any such properties are located within the proposed project's area of potential effects."
This project does not have the potential to result in changes to the character or use of any historic properties, therefore, the subject project does not constitute an undertaking. This finding fulfills the Department's requirements under Section 106.
