Abstract

New South Associates (New South) has completed a Phase I Archaeological Survey at the intersection of State Route 257 with Waldrep (CR 477) and Pinehill (CR 354) roads in Laurens County, Georgia. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has called for the installation of a roundabout at this intersection. The ESB (Environmental Survey Boundary) for the project was based on the area that would be directly impacted by the proposed intersection improvements, as indicated road engineering plans provided to New South. The goal of this survey was to identify archaeological resources within the ESB and to assess their eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in compliance with the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA).
