This report documents the findings of a Phase II archaeological assessment of five sites in Paulding County, Georgia, by Garrow & Associates, Inc., under contract with Colony Homes of Woodstock, Georgia. The sites were discovered during a Phase I archaeological survey conducted between July 11 and 22, 1994, by personnel from Garrow & Associates. They include one abandoned cemetery (9PA54), one historic site (9PA56), and three prehistoric sites (9PA51, 9PA58, and 9PA59). The Phase II field evaluation of these sites was completed between September 21, 1994, and February 2, 1995. No stratigraphic integrity was found at 9PA51 or 9PA59. Evidence for integrity was found at 9PA56 and 9PA58. Twenty-five graves were delineated at 9PA54. Because of the conclusive demonstration of intact cultural deposits, 9PA56 and 9PA58 are recommended eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion D of the criteria for evaluation. Site 9PA54 is recommended eligible under Criterion A, and the standing structure on 9PA56 is recommended eligible under Criterion C. Preservation in place is recommended for 9PA54 and data recovery is recommended for sites 9PA56 and 9PA58.
