Abstract

This report is a management summary for the archaeological survey of Radium Springs Park in Dougherty County, Georgia. An archaeological survey was conducted around the mouth of a proposed drainage ditch at Radium Springs Park. The fieldwork was conducted on August 1, 1979, by Tom Gresham and John Strand. Dr. David Hally of the University of Georgia Department of Anthropology was the Principal Investigator. Six man hours were required to conduct the fieldwork. The project area consisted of a very small (15 meters x 18 meters) tract on the east bank of the Flint River. Surface visibility was quite good, yet no cultural material was seen on the surface. A scattering of lithic material was noted at the opposite end of the drainage ditch nearly 150 meters to the east, but this material did not extend to the survey area. The river bank at this locale was approximately two meters high and was examined carefully by the survey team. No artifacts were seen along the bank.
