Abstract

A cultural inventory was conducted for the Satilla River Basin in Southeast Georgia to aid the Corps of Engineers in their development and management of the basin’s water and related land resources. The scope of work was limited to a literature and record search, involving all published and unpublished data concerning the study area. The results of this inventory are presented in narrative and graphic form and include tentative and predictive models concerning the settlement patterns of the study area’s biogeographical zones through time. The specific location of all known prehistoric sites have been placed on a 1:250,000 mylar map overlay (Map Set H). and the Universal Transverse Mercator coordinates for each site are listed under separate cover as requested by the Corps of Engineers.
