Abstract

PF .Net contracted BHE Environmental, Inc. to conduct a Phase I Cultural Resource Survey of seven probable sites where regeneration stations are to be constructed. Previous background and archival research has been conducted for Patton Management Corporation as part of the section 106 review process for construction of the fiber optic cable. This background can be found in Garcia-Herreros (2000) report. On January 8, 2001 the Georgia State Historic Preservation Office was visited and background research was conducted. No National Register Sites were found to be within the areas of proposed effect. Each area of proposed effect was intensively surveyed for the presence of any cultural resources. Upon site inspection a probability was determined and the site was surveyed using standard methods. Areas of high probability were surveyed by placing shovel tests at 15 m intervals. Those areas determined to be moderate probability would be surveyed by placing shovel tests at 30 m intervals. Areas of low probability were inspected through a pedestrian survey. This Phase I Survey of the regeneration sites was conducted in two parts, September 27 through October 2, 2000 and January 5 through January 16, 2001.
