Abstract

The proposed project consists of the widening of SR 54 (Fayetteville Road (Rd.]) from just north of McDonough Rd. in Fayette County to US 19/41/SR 3/Tara Boulevard (Blvd.) in Clayton County, Georgia. The existing two-lane will be widened to a 4-lane roadway with a 24-foot (ft.) raised median and 4-ft. bike lanes. Curb and gutter will be provided on both sides of the roadway with a 5-ft.

sidewalk on each side of the ·roadway. Curb cuts will be provided at all existing driveways. The existing bridges over Morning Creek, Camp Creek, and Flint River will be widened. The proposed roadway construction will. follow the alignment of the existing roadway for the majority of the project. To correct substandard horizontal curves, approximately 0.43 mile of roadway will be relocated approximately 300 feet to the south in approaching US 19/41/SR 3/Tara Blvd. The roadway will remain open to traffic during construction. The total project length is approximately 5.519 miles. See Figure 1 for a Project Location map.
