Abstract

This report documents an archaeological survey of the proposed site of the Oglethorpe Power Company North Lilburn 115/12kV Substation in Gwinnett County, Georgia (Figure 1). The field phase of the project was conducted by the Field Director, Charles McNutt, and field technician Michael Garrow on October 11, 1990. One historic archaeological site was discovered in the course of systematic shovel testing of the parcel. This report has been organized as follows. Chapter II contains environmental background information pertinent to the survey area. Chapter III presents the historic and prehistoric background of the study area in general. Chapter IV presents the methodology employed in this study and the results achieved, and Chapter V consists of a brief summary of the archaeological investigations, findings and results.
