Abstract

This report, produced by Garrow & Associates, Inc., is a synthesis of existing knowledge of cultural resources on the U.S. Army's Fort Benning Military Reservation in Chattahoochee and Muscogee counties, Georgia, and Russell County, Alabama. Archeological, historical, and architectural data were gathered and reviewed to produce this volume, which is the second volume of a four-volume Historic Preservation Plan. In addition to a synthesis of the data, recommendations and research design guidelines were developed to aid U.S. Army personnel in managing the cultural resources that exist (both discovered and undiscovered) on their property. While this document is designed to help land managers manage the lands they control, it also should prove to be informative to archeologists, historians, and architects who are interested in the area.
