Abstract

An archaeological survey of the proposed S.C.-G.A. 28 bridge replacement and approach realignment over the Savannah River, be-tween McCormick and Columbia Counties, was conducted by the Department's Staff Archaeologists on November 27, 1978 and February 23, 1979. In Georgia the existing right-of-way of 50 feet each side of the centerline will be increased to a maximum of 90 feet only on the south or upstream side. On the South Carolina side the existing right-of-way is 37.5 feet and an additional 22.5 feet will be obtained on the south or upstream side, with the exception of the area from station 48+00 to 51+00, where an additional 42.5 feet will be acquired.
