Abstract

The proposed project is located in LaGrange, Georgia, which is situated in west-central Georgia. The proposed project consists of converting the existing two-way stop-controlled intersection of State Route (SR) 219 and Bartley Road into a 4-legged, single-lane roundabout. The proposed roundabout would have an inside diameter of approximately 45.7 meters (m) (150 feet [ft]), a 5.5 m (18 ft) wide travel lane within the roundabout, and approach lanes that vary between 3.7 m (12 ft) wide and 5.5 m (18 ft) wide. The roundabout design would reduce vehicle speeds through the intersection to about 25 miles per hour (mph) (40 kilometers per hour [kph]). Sidewalks are not part of the proposed project. The majority of the proposed roundabout's construction would occur within the existing intersection. Existing right-of-way (ROW) varies from approximately 24.4 m (80 ft) to approximately 30.4 m (100 ft) for both SR 219 and Bartley Road. Minor amounts of ROW would be required from each quadrant of the intersection and would vary between 0 and 21.3 m (0 and 70 ft) in width.
