The purpose of the project is to upgrade the existing lighting poles/fixtures along the State Route (SR) 154/SR 166 corridor between I-285 and I-85. The speed limit within the project corridor was originally 45 miles per hour (mph). A high number of pole knockdowns have occurred in the project corridor due to an increase in the speed limit to 55 mph, therefore the proposed project would move the lighting poles/fixtures outside of the clear zone or behind guardrails. All work will be completed within existing GDOT right-of-way (ROW).
