Abstract

In response to a request from T-Squared Site Services RESCOM Environmental Corp (RESCOM) has completed a Phase Ia archaeological reconnaissance and records check for a proposed telecommunications tower site in Cobb County, Georgia (Figure 1). The project is located at 34°03'47.6"N 84°31'14.0"W as seen on the Kennesaw, GA, USGS 7.5' topographical quadrangle (Figure 2). The project area measures 70-ft by 70-ft with a 200-ft by 20-ft access and utility corridor (0.20-acre in total) and consists of a wooded area adjacent to an industrial yard with the access corridor overlapping a graveled parking lot development (Figure 3).

An archaeological records check conducted on behalf of RESCOM by the UGA Laboratory of Archaeology via the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GASF) shows no archaeological sites overlapping the project area. Fieldwork was conducted on December 21, 2021 by archaeologist Stephen Nazian, University of South Florida 2008, under the supervision of Jamie Cochran-Smith M.A., Ball State University 2011, Principal Investigator and Secretary of Interior qualified professional archaeologist.

This report details the results of the records check and Phase Ia field reconnaissance and presents the conclusions and recommendations of RESCOM concerning any additional archaeological investigations.
