Abstract

Viasat, Inc. (Viasat) proposes to construct, operate, and maintain a new satellite earth station (satellite) not to exceed 20 feet (ft) in height, located in Cherokee County, Georgia (Project). The Project is in south central Cherokee County approximately 102 meters (m) southwest of Rabbit Hill Road and 90 m southeast of Phillip Landrum Memorial Highway (I- 575/GA-5) approximately 9.50 kilometers (km) southwest from the community of Canton (Latitude/Longitude [NAD83]: 34.153056°, -84.511792°). Proposed plans include the establishment of an approximately 94-m-long by 6.1-m-wide access road beginning at Rabbit Hill Road and largely following the extent of an existing gravel drive west to the pad location. The proposed pad, including workspace, measures 7.6-m by 8.5-m. A small utility easement measuring 46-m by 3.0-m is proposed extending north and then northeast from the pad location to an overhead utility line. The total Project area measures approximately 0.19 acre (ac) (0.08 hectare [ha]). A United States Geological Survey (USGS) map and aerial photograph of the Project location are provided in Figures 1 and 2 in the Figures and Photographs section at the end of the report.
