Abstract

In November-December 2019, archaeologists with North Wind Resource Consulting LLC (North Wind) performed a Phase I Archaeology survey for 590 acres located on the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in Jones County, Georgia. The Phase I Archaeology survey resulted in the identification of nine new archaeological sites and four precontact isolated finds. North Wind also revisited three previously known archaeological sites 9JO174, 9JO242 and 9JO304. Emmett Brown served as the Principal Investigator for the project and was assisted by Robyn Latham, Ashely Milton, William Stumpff, Christina Grobmier, Ansley Lester, and Charles A. Dicks in the field. The Phase I Archaeological survey was conducted to identify precontact and historic sites and to evaluate their NRHP eligibility following the criteria established in 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 60.4 and 36 CFR 800 (64 FR 27044, May 18, 1999) and amendments of August 5, 2004.
