Abstract

The present report includes cultural resources investigations associated with three proposed vegetation management projects on the Chattooga River Ranger District in Habersham and Stephens Counties, Georgia. The project treatment burn area includes 1459 acres, while the Leatherwood Creek timber harvest acreage is approximately 2630 acres and the Upper Middle Fork timber harvest is roughly 663 acres. Large scale survey work was contracted to the Nutter & Associates firm based out of Athens, GA (Benson 2022). The author of this report completed survey work and site revisits outside of the contracted surveyed areas. The goal of this cultural resources survey was to relocate and assess eligibility of the identified resources for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
