Abstract

An intensive archeological survey in the horseshoe bend region of Greene and Putnam Counties, Georgia, was conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) during the summer of 1997 (Ledbetter 1998). The survey area consisted of several undeveloped tracts totaling 1860 acres within the existing residential and recreational development known as Reynolds Plantation. The majority of the project area is located on the east side of the Oconee River and is bounded by the valley of Richland Creek. A small part of the survey area lies on the west side of the river in Putnam County. The survey tracts will eventually be developed according to the master plan of Reynolds Plantation. The survey identified 161 sites, of which four were recommended eligible and 27 potentially eligible to the National Register of Historic Places. This document provides a strategy for data recovery of eligible site 9GE903.
