Abstract

R.S. Webb & Associates (RSWA), a professional cultural resources management firm, conducted a cultural resources literature search and field reconnaissance of a proposed community park site in Turin, Georgia. In a letter dated November 24, 2020, the Georgia Historic Preservation Division (HPD) requested that such a study be conducted, and that an archeological site form be submitted for a rock structural feature known to be within the project area. For this study, a “cultural resource” is defined as a discrete area/location of human activity that is at least 50 years old.

The proposed park site covers 7.8-acres and is located southwest of Turin/Will Banks Road between South Hunter Street and China Grove Street. The study tract is within the Sharpsburg, Georgia USGS 7.5-minute quadrangle (Figure 1).
