Abstract

In response to a request from T-Squared Site Services, LLC., RESCOM Environmental Corp (RESCOM) has completed a Phase Ia archaeological reconnaissance and records check for a proposed 280-ft telecommunications tower site in Pierce County, Georgia (Figure 1). The project is located east of the city of Blackshear approximately 470-ft southeast of Altman Street and NE Central Ave at 31°18'30.2"N 82°13'56.6"W as seen on the Blackshear East, GA, 7.5' USGS topographical quadrangle (Figure 2). The project area consists of a wooded location and measures 90-ft by 90-ft for a proposed tower compound with a 50-ft by 36-ft access easement; 0.23-acres in total area (Figures 3 & 4).

An archaeological records check conducted on behalf of RESCOM by the UGA Laboratory of Archaeology via the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GASF) shows no archaeological sites overlapping the project area. Fieldwork was conducted on July 28, 2022, by archaeologist Stephen Nazian, University of South Florida 2008, under the supervision of Andrew Smith M.A., Ball State University 2010, Principal Investigator and Secretary of Interior qualified professional archaeologist.

This report details the results of the records check and Phase Ia field reconnaissance and presents the conclusions and recommendations of RESCOM concerning any additional archaeological investigations.
