Abstract

On October 16, 1979, Mr. Bill Duston of the Southwest Georgia Planning and development Commission contacted Mr. Morrell by telephone and informally inquired about our availability to conduct the above survey. Mr. Morrell indicated our interest and requested further details on the project's location, dimension, and other pertinent information. Part of the requested information was provided in subsequent correspondence dated October 17, 1979 and November 2, 1979; however, a detailed location map was not available prior to initiating the subject survey.

This survey was performed in order to insure compliance with federal mandates, including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (Public Law 89-665) as amended by P.L. 91-243, P.L. 93-54, P.L. 94-422~ and P.L. 94-458, and Presidential Executive Order 11593 ("Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment"), and in accordance with the procedures contained in 36 C.F.R., Part 800 ("Procedures for the Protection of Historic and Cultural Properties"). Fieldwork by the authors required two man days. An additional four days were spent in the preparation of a final report.
