Abstract

From 22-23 February 2000, Brockington and Associates, Inc. conducted a cultural resource survey for a proposed substation for an industrial park outside of Oakwood, Georgia in Hall County. The proposed substation tract is approximately 2 hectares (5 acres) of scrubby clear cut overlooking Muddy Creek. This survey, conducted for Greenhorne and O'Mara, Inc., was undertaken in compliance with federal cultural resources legislation (Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, 16 USC 470, as amended through 1992), and cultural resources regulations (36 CFR 800: Protection of Historic Properties). Background research identified no cultural resources within a 0.8 km (0.5 mile) radius of the project area. Field survey identified no archaeological or architectural resources within the project's area of potential effect (APE). The proposed construction will not impact any significant cultural resources. No further cultural resources investigation of the tract is recommended.
