The proposed project consists of widening the existing Cumberland Boulevard bridge over Interstate 285 in Cobb County (Figure 1). The existing bridge will be widened in order to accommodate the addition of a 6-foot wide, 4-inch thick, concrete sidewalk along either side of the bridge and roadway approaches. The proposed project length is approximately 800 feet and includes 100 feet on either side of the bridge for the roadway approach work. The sidewalks will be built to current ADA requirements. The bridge will also be raised 10 inches in order to maintain the required minimum clearance of 17 feet over 1-285. No additional bents are needed and all work will occur within the existing right-of-way.
