Abstract

This report covers a cultural resources survey conducted by the author on 125 acres of the Tallulah Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest, in Rabun County, Georgia. The location is atop a westerly ridge of Tiger Mountain, and east of Davis Gap, just west of the community of Tiger, GA. A pedestrian survey, including screened shovel tests was undertaken on this tract, and no cultural resources were found there. The land is very steep and somewhat eroded over most of the surface, with several coves that have alluvial soils in them. It lies on a ridge between two stream valleys, both of which had early historic trails in them. The tract had been logged at least once, probably twice, but does not appear to have been lived on either in the historic or prehistoric periods. Cultural resources clearance is recommended for this parcel.
