Abstract

The proposed Frontage Road/ Interstate 75 Business Parkway in Bibb County, Georgia, was subjected to a Phase I archaeological survey on March 25, 2003. The corridor extended approximately 1.5 miles between Hartley Bridge and Sardis Church Roads, parallel to Interstate 75. The northern two-thirds of the corridor had been previously disturbed through the excavation of large borrow pits, as well several dirt roads and drainage improvements. The remaining third of the corridor was located in a fallow agricultural field. This portion also was intersected by unimproved dirt roads. Two archaeological sites, 9Bi146 and 9Bi147, were located by the survey. Neither site is considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and no further archaeological study of the sites or of the corridor is recommended.
