Abstract

Terracon, at the request of its client Verizon Wireless, conducted a systematic Phase I archaeological survey in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The survey was carried out at the proposed location for a 150-foot monopole telecommunications tower. The survey included a pedestrian walkover and subsurface examinations. No artifacts were recovered from the investigation. Also, a literature review at the Georgia Archeological Site Files indicated that there are no recorded sites at or near the proposed tower. Therefore, no archaeological resources will be affected by the proposed construction. No further archaeological research at the site is recommended.
