Abstract

The plaza and entrance will be redesigned to open up to Church Street. The two canopies in the Lower Plaza (at Church Street) would be removed. The roof above the MARTA entrance would be extended to create a plaza extension on the upper level. A new MARTA entrance facade would be constructed. On the upper level, some existing planters would be removed from the plaza and the existing skylights would be paved over to extend the plaza space (Garden Terrace). The stairs accessing Blount Plaza would be replaced with stairs spanning the entire length of the plaza. These stairs would replace some of the existing skylights. Concrete planters in the sidewalks on the south and north sides of the site would be removed in order to widen the walkway and to enlarge the patio area for existing restaurants and retail establishments.
