Abstract

The survey reported here took place in the area of potential effect (APE) of a bridge replacement project proposed by the Georgia Department of Transportation. The bridge is located in Paulding County, southwest of downtown Dallas, Georgia, along State Route (SR) 120 at its crossing of the Silver Comet Trail. The Silver Comet Trail is a former railroad that has been turned into a recreational trail. The purpose of the survey was to locate any significant archeological resources within the area of potential effect for the proposed project. The survey resulted in the identification of no archeological sites. As a result, we recommend that the proposed project will not create any adverse effects to significant archeological resources. Notwithstanding other considerations, we suggest the proposed project be allowed to proceed as planned.
