Abstract

An archaeological survey of a proposed multi unti appartment complex in downtown Cleveland, Georgia was conducted. A new site, 9Wh42, was identified and tested. The survey revealed no prehistoric materials, but the area does contain several standing structures, portions of which may date to the late 19th century. The site has been severely modified and disturbed by subsequent occupation and is not eligible for the National Register. The site will be completely demolished by the proposed housing construction. No further mitigation beyond this report is recommended.
