An archaeological and botanical survey was conducted on the proposed Blakely 201 Facilities Plan in Blakely, Georgia, for John J. Harte Associates, Inc. Authorization was received on October 3, 1977. Field work began on October 10 and was completed on October 12. The survey area is located in Early County, Georgia, within and adjacent to the City of Blakely. The areas requiring survey consisted of a 7 to 10 acre (3 to 4 hectare) treatment plant site, approximately 2500 feet (800 meters) of a proposed gravity feed outfall line corridor, and approximately 16,100 feet (5000 meters) of a proposed force main corridor. The archaeological survey involved systematic visual reconnaissance and subsurface techniques, resulting in the location of three prehistoric sites. A detailed description of these findings and the methodologies employed will be described in Chapter II. The botanical survey was designed to inventory and evaluate the flora located within the proposed construction easements. Special emphasis was placed on the identification of plants presently protected by Georgia or Federal regulations. Chapter III presents the survey in detail and delineates those sites deemed significant from a botanical point of view. Chapter IV assesses the primary impacts of the proposed project on the botanical resources. A species list is included as an appendix to this report.
