Abstract

The proposed project would improve a portion of SR 25CO/Bay Street, located in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. The project would begin at West Lathrop Avenue and end at East Lathrop Avenue. The proposed improvements would connect the existing four-lane divided section on the west end of the project with the existing five-lane undivided section at the east end of the project. The proposed project length is approximately 1.2 miles. The existing roadway consists of four undivided 10-foot travel lanes with curb and gutter. The existing right-of-way width is approximately 70 feet. The proposed project would include four 12-foot travel lanes with a 20-foot raised median that would separate eastbound and westbound traffic. Left and right turn lanes would be added or improved where appropriate. The project would include outside curb and gutter with 16-foot shoulders with five-foot wide sidewalks, constructed in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The proposed right-of-way would be approximately 120 feet. Crosswalks would be striped and improved to allow for safer pedestrian access.
