Abstract

This project is an Addendum to Phase I Archaeological Survey of SR 42 Bridge Replacement Over the Echeconnee Creek, Monroe County, Georgia. Original: The proposed project would replace the exiting bridge with a new 40 ft. wide concrete bridge that is approximately 260 ft. in length. The proposed bridge would accommodate two 12 ft. travel lanes and two 8 ft. shoulders. The profile of the new- bridge would be approximately five feet higher than the existing structure. The higher bridge profile was needed to meet the requirements for clearing the 100-year flood event. The proposed bridge would be constructed on the existing alignment in order to avoid impacting neighboring historic resources. The proposed right-of-way width would be a maximum of 160 ft. During construction, traffic would be diverted to a temporary off-site detour utilizing US 341/SR 7 and SR 74. Design Changes: A new temporary easement would be required, including approximately 1,193 feet in length and 10 feet in width along the west side of SR 42. This temporary easement is for the relocation of an existing fence.
