Abstract

Cultural Resources Survey was conducted on the 91-acre Withrow Land Exchange Tract (Compartment 784) in Western Gilmer County, April 6, 1981. The Cohutta Mountain foothill land is very steep, except for a 19-acre old field, now grown up in trees, along Rodgers Creek which bisects the Valley. Two small early 20th Century farmhouse sites were found near the creek, but no other cultural resources were noted. Both sites were too disturbed to warrant further investigation, and do not meet significant criteria for the National Register. Therefore, clearance to proceed with the land exchange is recommended.
