Abstract

A cultural resources survey of a portion of Walnut Fork Road in the Warwoman Wildlife Refuge which is scheduled for reconstruction resulted in the location of two small Archaic lithic scatter sites in saddles at Black Stump Gap and Duck's Nest Gap. Both sites had been destroyed by subsequent activity, traffic and erosion, so that no undisturbed portion of the sites could be found. Thus there will be no effect on cultural resources by the proposed reconstruction, and the project is recommended to proceed.
