Abstract

The proposed project would consist of improvement to approximately 0.40 mile of Roosevelt Street in the City of Albany, Dougherty County, to allow for the installation of medians between the Norfolk Southern Railroad and the east and westbound traffic. These medians are designed to channel motorists away from the railroad tracks. Currently the Norfolk Southern Railroad operates in the center of Roosevelt Street, adjacent to the travel way. In addition, approximately 500 feet of SR 91 /North Jefferson Street would be reconstructed on-grade in advance of the at-grade railroad crossing. This proposed safety project is necessary to allow for the installation of train activated warning devices (bells, lights, and gates) along SR 91/ North Jefferson St. at US DOT/AAR Crossing No. 734089K. The existing geometry of the roadway intersection will not allow for the installation of the warning equipment. There were negative findings.
