Archaeological Survey of Project STP-0001-00(894), Chatham County. The proposed project would improve the intersection of SR 26 and Third Street in Chatham County. The improvement would include the following: installation of a traffic light; the modification of the shopping center drive; a grade reduction to eliminate the abrupt valley from the modified drive to the parking lot; type A turn lanes will be converted to type B offset left turn lanes; and the eastern drive of the shopping center will be closed and curb and gutter will be installed. There will be 45 feet of temporary easement needed at the proposed signalized intersection for modification of the entrance to the shopping center and 20 feet of temporary easement needed to close the eastern drive and install curb and gutter. The total project length would be 0.15 mile.
