Abstract

This report presents an archaeological reassessment of Project BRF-001-4(57) in Clayton County. The original proposed project consisted of replacing the bridge spanning the Central of Georgia Railroad along US 19/SR 3 in Clayton County. This project was first evaluated in July 2000, and reevaluated due to project changes in June 2002. Since that time, the bridge has been lengthened to comply with Central of Georgia Railroad requirements as well as to achieve adequate sight distance and transition from the bridge to Central Avenue. Originally, the southern terminus was approximately 750 feet and has been extended to approximately 1050 feet. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor. No existing or eligible National Register resources were located within the project's area of potential environmental effect. It is concluded, therefore, that the project will have no effect upon archaeological resources on or eligible for inclusion in the NRHP provided that the project conforms to that described above.
