An intensive cultural resources survey of 102 ha (254 ac)s was conducted for Fort Benning prior to the construction of new family housing in the eastern portion of the cantonment area. Two training areas, AA and BB6, were surveyed. Three archeological sites and two "occurrences" were encountered; two of the sites had been previously recorded. Site 9CE649 is a well preserved nineteenth century house remnants, recommended as potentially eligible to the National Register of Historic Places. The site should be protected from all forms of impacts until archeological testing can be implemented. The other sites, 9CE6 and 9CE221, and the two occurrences lack research potential and are recommended as ineligible to the National Register. No further consideration of these sites is required.
