Abstract

This GDOT archaeological report short form for negative findings for the Phase I Archaeological Resources Survey of the Bridge Replacement along SR26/US80 over the Ogeechee River, Bryan and Effingham Counties, Georgia conducted by Brockington and Associates, Inc. Project BRST-005-5(47) is a bridge replacement project along SR 26/US 80 over the Ogeechee River in Bryan and Effingham Counties. The total project length is approximately 6000 ft (1.14 miles). The bridge is located at M.P. 0.37. Two structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridges along SR 26/US 80 need to be replaced. A total of 118 shovel tests were excavated in the project corridor at 30 meter intervals. Each shovel test was 30cm in diameter and excavated into sterile soil.
