The proposed project would consist of improvements to SR 49 at industrial Drive and Old Macon Road in Byron, Peach County (Figure 1). The intersection of SR 49 at Old Macon Road and Chapman Road would be closed, and new location roadway would be constructed approximately 1,200 feet to the west, aligned between the existing intersection of SR 49 at Industrial Drive and the existing intersection of Old Macon Road at Woodland Road. A traffic signal would be installed at the SR 49 at Industrial Drive intersection. Existing right-of-way on Woodland Road is 30 feet, on Old Macon Road and Industrial Drive is 50 feet and on SR 49 is 100 feet. The proposed right-of-way for the new location roadway is 100 feet. Additional variable right-of-way would be required along Woodland Road and Industrial Drive of approximately 16 feet to 37 feet on both sides of the roadways. Additional right-of-way of approximately 17 feet would be required on the north side of SR 49.
