Abstract

An intensive on-site archaeological and historic cultural resources survey of approximately 300+/- acres of land in Carroll County, Georgia, was made during the period April 1 through April 30, 1981. The upland portion of the land is being considered by the City of Carrollton, Georgia, for development of a waste water sludge disposal site (Figure 1). The survey disclosed two archaeological sites and two post-depression era structures within the boundaries of the tract. 1 Neither the two archaeological sites which are extremely eroded, nor the historic structures are considered to be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. In this narrative, the site's archaeology will be discussed first, followed by a discussion of the two structures. All materials and records pertaining to this archaeological and cultural resources assessment have been catalogued and placed in storage in the Archaeological Laboratory files at West Georgia College in Carrollton.
