Abstract

In February and March 2006, Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) performed an intensive cultural resource assessment survey of the 92-acre Osprey Cove Subdivision/Phase IV development parcel in Camden County, Georgia, on behalf of LandMar Group, LLC. The goal of the survey was to locate, identify, delineate, and evaluate all cultural resources within the parcel, including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, as well as historic structures. The cultural resource assessment survey included a pedestrian inspection combined with systematic shovel testing at 30 and 90-meter intervals. As a result of the survey, no archaeological sites were located and sparse indications of past turpentine industry activity were noted by Herty cup fragments on the surface. No subsurface deposits were found relating to these activities or any other indications of cultural activity. There are no historic structures located on the property, nor were any previously recorded within a one-mile radius. No further cultural resource considerations are necessary at the Osprey Cove development parcel.
