Abstract

CSNHS-0008-00(458) proposes work to reconstruct the existing CR 246/Kinard Bridge Road intersection with 1-75 in Cook County, Georgia. The APE for this project was originally surveyed by Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) in June 2006 as part of project NHS-0000-00(764). No existing or eligible National Register resources were located within the project's area of potential effect during this survey. There have been no further project changes to the APE; the only change noted here is that in project number. A further archaeological survey consistent with the project specifications is not warranted based results of the survey noted above. An archaeological survey (Level I) was conducted in accordance with "GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists in consultation with DNR Historic Preservation Division Staff and concurred in by the Federal Highway Administration and State Historic Preservation Officer. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys based on the type/scope of work of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources.
