Phase I Archaeological Survey of the Proposed Bridge Replacement at Irwin Bridge Road over the Yellow River, Rockdale County, Georgia

Report Number
3919
Year of Publication
2007
Abstract

The proposed project would replace the bridge over the Yellow River on Irwin Bridge Road, which has been deemed structurally insufficient. The county plans to construct a new bridge with a 350 foot span in the same location as the old bridge. The southern approach's site distance is hindered by the vertical profile of the roadway. which will require modification to comply with the design speed of 50 mph. At the beginning of the vertical curve is a T-intersection with Farmer Road, which will require some reconstruction. The northern approach appears to be adequate and will only require reconstruction based on the new elevation of the bridge structure.
